my incredibly busy week is over!

I finished my statistics class with a B-!!! I am so happy, because I honestly thought I was going to get a D. then, I figured I'd get a C+ if I were lucky, but when I just checked my grade I ended up getting a B-!!!!

I know, that's not very high for most people's standards, even my own, but this was a math class I struggled in SO badly, had already failed once before, and I worked SO hard for my grade.

the first session of camp is over (there are four 2 week sessions) and some of the kids I don't like/cause problems are leaving, so that will be wonderful.

there are a lot of kids coming next session though, so its going to get kinda crazy preparing crafts and stuff.. but whatever! I think its fun, and I got paid today.. so that was exciting!!

...but now I just looked at all the taxes taken out of it and its a bit depressing. not to mention I can't cash it because my social security number is wrong. lame. whatever, I'll get it fixed monday.

this week was tiring, but its fun. I love waking up early and having something to do all day, plus get paid for it. not only that, but the kids LOVE me, so it makes me feel good :D

OH and I just found out that paycheck was only for ONE week! SICK!! I'm still amazed by money in the real world hehe

and I got a tan today! oh baby!

life is great. I'm exhausted, but life is great.

  • exhausted.

I got my free periods taken away at camp today due to rescheduling - and then we didn't even have field day as planned because of stupid rain.

class ended at 7:30 but I stayed after for about 2 hours to ask questions about things I don't understand. I also met with him for a half hour before class (like pretty much every other class) and went over stuff there, too.

I have so much math in my brain right now I feel like its going to explode.

I was disrespected by some kids today and coming home and dealing with my disrespectful little sisters is NOT what I wanted to do.

I guess the only cool things about today were my hair looked cute and I made this cool bracelet.

next week is going to be SO much easier!

  • K's family picnic!

    so.. about the picnic!

It was awesome! I had a great time and I was so happy K decided to bring me.

The people there were mostly of the younger generation, mostly his first cousins and stuff and some uncles. The rest of the people there were his aunt and uncles' friends.

I did my hair that morning and it looked better than it did in the past year - so that was lucky and amazing! playing softball didn't really mess it up either, so I was glad for that. I was also psyched I brought a cute outfit, then clothes to play softball in. I showed up cute, changed into the softball clothes, and changed back into the cute clothes!

He didn't tell his aunt I was coming, so when I first got there I felt really awkward.. but when we walked over to her, she turned around and gave me a big hug, and said "FINALLY! I keep telling him to bring you!" so that made me feel 10 million times better. Oh, and here's the funny thing - that's K's mom's SISTER. I was one family member off from being completely accepted :sigh: haha

I wasn't the only white person there though. One of K's aunt's Asian friends had a white husband, and K's first cousin - on his MOM'S side! - had a white fiance. I was the only white girl, but not the only white person! I was kind of glad K's cousin had a white fiance, kinda like, she did it first, and I'm not a total shock to their older generation. :P

The kids loved me for some reason and K's nephew (5-years-old) developed a little crush on me, and kept telling me K was too old for me and I should play with him instead. His mom told him "do you know why Nicole wants to hang around K so much today? Its because she's his girlfriend!" and he made a weird face and put his head down.. and she goes "Aww are you jealous?" and he got all shy - it was adorable. K's aunt later told him he's got some competition ;D Him and all the other kids legit thought I was 10 years old, so that was the joke of the night! One of the little ones asked if I was K's mom, so that caused a LOT more laughter.. oh man haha

The food was good! I had fried rice, pork, white rice, fish balls (which were SO good!), corn on the cob and more fruit than you could imagine! I also had 2 hot dogs, that were meant for the kids but I love hot dogs! haha The dessert was amazing, too. More fruit on top of this delicious cake.

But anyway, I ended up staying super late with K and his brothers and all his close cousins. We didn't leave until about 1:30am! It was fun though, we were just hanging out on the couches and watching tv. They ended up having to bring one of their cousins back to their other cousins' house, so I had to drive K home because there was no room in the car. Originally, K told me I didn't have to stay that late, but looking back it would have been awkward if I left earlier because everyone was treating me as if I was supposed to stay that late - so I was cool with it!

I had a great time and I'm so glad everyone in his family I met/saw seems to really like me. I didn't feel awkward or misplaced at all, despite my drastically different appearance! ;D

I'm just so happy, after 2 and a half years I finally feel.. accepted. K's whole family isn't like his mom - I just thought they were. Of course K has to be the one with the wildly traditional parents, but hey - his dad likes me and so does everyone else, so I'm feeling wonderful right now!

I have a family picnic with my family today (not a big one like his aunt had though) and although the Chinese food was great, I'm psyched for some macaroni salad and hot dogs! :P
